Car Specifications:
l. No convertibles, van, SUV’s or 4-wheel drives allowed.
2. Single drive shafts only, front-wheel drive cars allowed.
3. No turbo charged cars.
4. Maximum wheel base: 106” Maximum allowed horse power: 160 NADA Rating
5. 3 or 4-Cyclinder cars only, must be stock, no body alteration (see allowable body alterations).
6. All chrome, plastic and loose metal must be removed.
8. Drive line loop required on rear-drive wheeled cars.
Allowable Body Alterations
- Underhood strut brace and rear strut brace permitted.
- Factory stock electric fan permitted
- NO fuel injection except originally equipped
Reinforcement
- No reinforcement permitted (except for driver’s door). No reinforcement permitted under the hood,
except that which is approved by the Tech Committee. See Roll Cage.
Hood, Door, Roof, Trunk
- Hood, doors and trunks must be securely attached with cable, chain, bolted or welded.
- Driver door must have (3) three bars in them as protection.
- If vehicle has a sunroof, that area must be covered with metal and must be securely fastened.
- Race vehicles must have a 4” x 10” fire slot in the hood on the passenger side. No other opening will be allowed in hood.
- No hood scoops allowed.
Horns
Glass
- No glass in vehicle or bottom of doors except instrument glass.
- Mirrors are NOT allowed.
Brakes
- All four brakes must be in good working order at start of race.
Lights
- One amber running light must be located in rear window compartment. No excessively bright lights.
- Dimensions: 2”x 5” or 2” x 6” unit (10 to 12 square inch of amber lens.
Fuel And Fuel Tank Regulations
- No exotic fuels allowed, based on NHRA fuel allowances.
- The AMX reserves the right to test fuels.
- Stock gas tank allowed.
- NO ELECTRIC FUEL PUMPS unless original equipment.
- Master Shut-off Switch recommended to be installed: mounted in center of dash area, accessible for safety crew to reach from driver side, passenger side and through the windshield area.
Batteries and Exhaust/Mufflers
- No under the hood batteries allowed
- Batteries must be securely mounted with minimum 3/8” bolts and fully enclosed in a Marine battery
box.
- Headers NOT allowed.
- Stock exhaust only.
Transmission Coolers
- Cooler must be in stock position only.
Radiators
- Radiators must be in stock position. If radiator mount is broken, a mount may be made to put around
radiator to hold it in stock position. Screen or 1/8” maximum expanded metal may be installed in front of radiator itself, but must not reinforce the front of the vehicle.
Roll Cage
- A (6) six point roll cage is required (must be securely mounted and will be checked during the vehicle
inspection). The roll cage must have 2 points in front of the driver, 2 points behind the driver’s head and 2 anchor or rear support points, all contained within the passenger compartment. Driver’s door must have 3-bars located inside.
- Roll cage may be tested with a hammer.
Bumpers
- A “bar” must be used to close bumper ends (front and back) by making a loop from bumper to frame, not to exceed 3” from the wheel opening. Only tubing can be used to make this “bar”.
- It is strongly suggested to strap or chain your bumper to keep it from dragging on the ground.
- Nothing may be attached to the front bumper except the bumper loops.
- Only car bumpers allowed.
Mud Flaps
- Mud flaps are mandatory on all rear-wheel drive vehicles at the start of the race.
- Mud flaps must be securely bolted to the rear bumper, No chains.
- Flaps must be 10" wide and 4" from the ground and located directly behind the rear
tires, being horizontal with the outside of the rear tire tread pattern.
- Mud flaps must be made from rubber material (including rubber belting) at least 5/16" thick.
- Mud flaps on front wheel drive cars are not required at this time.
Fire Extinguishers
- Each vehicle must have a fire extinguisher in their pit area, it does not need to be mounted in the
vehicle.
Tires
- Tires need to be D.O.T. approved only.
- Originally equipped stock tire size.
- No studded tires allowed.
- Only one tire per wheel, NO tire within a tire.
Harness, Window Net & Numbers
- A five-point harness that goes over both shoulders and across the lap mandatory. NO HOMEMADE
HARNESS OR WINDOW NETS WILL BE ALLOWED FOR THE RACES. Harness must anchor below shoulder line. All five points must be in use.
- An approved racing window net is mandatory to cover the driver’s door window opening.
- A covering is required over the driver’s windshield area. This does not have to cover the entire window. No door screen allowed. 1/8” expanded metal recommended. A support bar located in the center of the windshield is mandatory.
- Numbers have to 14” or larger on both front doors and be contrasting in color to the body color of the
vehicle. A number fin is required on the top of the vehicle, with numbers being on both sides of the fin. You may use either a single fin or an A-frame fin. The numbers on the fin must be no smaller than 7” and the fin must be painted black with white numbers or white with black numbers. No Exceptions! The fin must be mounted on the center of the roof so that the numbers can be read from the side of the vehicle.
